The reason for the title of the blog. Temperatures today have been 39 degrees in the shade!
We stopped in a hostel last night, but it was maybe more like a nice hotel we had our own room and there was a place to store the bike downstairs that is normally reserved for ski’s in winter.

Next door to the hostel was the most amazing breakfast and coffee.
To get to the trail we had to climb out of Nelson and it is built up on a hillside like San Francisco, crazy steep roads everywhere.
Once on the trail the going was good. It passes over a mountain but the gradient was nice and steady up and over in about ten miles.
On the way up was the most amazing Cottonwood Lake.

When we got down the other side the trail got a bit more overgrown and there was bear dumps everywhere.

We found a really cool part of the river to go skinny dipping.

We got into Salmo and had a lemonade. We found the campsite which is in a park. The warden said that her bears have not been around for three weeks due to the music festival that came to town. Let’s hope they stay away for one more night.
Salmo stands for Salmon and when we had another dip in town we saw a large fish jump out of the water. No wonder it is a haven for bears.

There is a farmers market going on in town and I think they have my playlist. Every song has been really cool.

Tomorrow we do another pass over to Castlegar where we are stopping with a Warmshowers host.
