We started our ride today from our campsite in Summerland and for breakfast we rode about a mile to Granny’s Farm Shop, Bakery and Cafe. You could buy buckets of honey.

The food was amazing and the coffee was just what I needed.
From there we had about 20 mins on the road to get back on to the KVR trail. The first part of the trail actually went alongside an old section of the railway. The scenery was beautiful as always.

About ten miles from camp we heard rumblings of thunder, but the same as yesterday we stayed just on the outskirts of any bad weather.
Rachael fancies herself as a portrait photographer and I don’t mind posing because I am sexy as hell. She does have a good eye for the perfect model 🙂

You might see from pictures of the bike that I have added some barends to the end of the bars just to give me a heads up laid back view so I can see more of the landscape around me.
When we got to the provincial park campground at Osprey Lake it is $15 for a first come first serve spot and we got the last lakeside space. With it being Saturday there are more people here then what we would normally see. When I say more, including ours there is only four spaces out of six being used.

We got our camp set up, had our swim and then made our tea. We got chatting to a really interesting couple in the space next to us. They were retired but he used to be a back country ski instructor and his wife was a hiking tour guide. They loved the water and cycling too. They had loads of outdoor experience in most areas and activities you can do in the wilds.
We have been planning our remaining days and it looks like we might have some mileage in the bag and we might finish two or three days earlier than expected. We have a hotel planned in Vancouver from the 20th till the 23rd when we fly back. But it is looking like we will get to Vancouver about the 17th so we are maybe looking at doing some cycling and kayaking on Vancouver Island for two or three days too if everything goes to plan.
This morning we got up around 0700. It was a very smoky night. The smoke is coming up from fires in the USA. There are lots of fires in Canada too but most of them are north of where we are riding. When are we going to take note of all these warnings we are being given. Every Canadian we have spoken to has said fires were not even a thing 10 to 15 years ago and now they are everywhere!
The views this morning just out of camp were stunning!

The image below gives you a slight view of the smoke. It is not haze or pollution, it is smoke that you can smell snd feel.

We are in Princeton at the moment and our plan was to cycle through by 10 to 12 mile, but thunderstorms have been forecast this evening into the night so we thought we might lay low here for the night.
