After we got to our accommodation we sat by the pool and had a coffee. We then set off to the hot springs. On the way we went past the geothermal plants that use the natural resource for heating of the water for accommodations. I am not an expert but it looked very similar to what you see in Iceland but on a much smaller scale.
At the hot springs we sat in some pools that were heated to about 40 degrees, I was hoping it would sweat this bug away.

We woke up this morning had a breakfast of gallo pinto and sweet fried plantain.
We got ready for a walkabout to see what surprises the forest had in store for us. The first port of call were some waterfalls.
On the way the amount of butterflies was amazing. But they don’t stop still long enough to capture properly. But I did get one. We have spotted the very large Morphos butterfly quite a few times. It is a beautiful colour and they are the size of birds growing to about eight inches. I would like to photograph one of them for my next tattoo.

We also saw a few of these bug things. Don’t know what they are, but they don’t move.

The waterfall was a lovely blue colour from a distance, but up close the water was so clear you could see all the way to the bottom. The rocks were smooth and there was no debris to stand on as the force of the water just swept stuff away to leave a gorgeous pool for swimming in.
I took a few pictures and video on the GoPro. Then decided to try and swim under the cascade. I thought I had securely ttucked the camera in my shorts, but no, in my chaotic attempt the camera came loose and is now sitting at the bottom of the lovely pool. Note to self, I do not have much joy with items and water. The annoying thing is I do have a floaty tripod for it. Doh!
Had to carefully resort to the phone to get a couple of pictures.

On the way back we saw a large bird of prey. A few keep on circling overhead.

Our next destination on our walk was a part of the river that was surrounded by red volcanic rock that was called locally Red Pond.

Again the water looked stunning and we had to jump in again.

On the way back from Red Pond we kept our eyes open for other interesting shapes nature provides.

Then sat at the accommodation a group of monkeys swung on by.

We have just had a meal and on the opposite table were an American summer camp group. They were aged about 12. There were no adults supervising them and they were all so polite. What warmed my heart even more is the fact they would not waste there food and the automatically asked for boxes for their left overs. I reiterate, there were no adults around and they asked for boxes so as not to waste food….. Amazing and lovely.
I am feeling a lot better than I did a couple of days ago and it is time to hit the road and see what else we can discover. Hopefully we might find some more swimming holes to counteract the heat.
