Costa Rica: Pt 20 – I got too many rivers to cross…… (UB40)

The shoulders and back are a bit tender this morning. After religiously applying factor 70 everyday on our arms, legs and face we both forgot about our body with our tops off messing in the sea on and off all day. Lesson learnt!

We got our things together and as we opened the door the little kitten thought it might be playtime. Rachael had to entice it out of the room with little games.

It felt great to get back on the road, rest days are great but the feeling of the open trail and what you mind find each day is too appealing to stop anywhere longer than one day.

It was not long before we were on the gravel tracks where we feel most at ease. And then another river crossing, we have been very fortunate that we have only had a couple of thunderstorms so the rivers are still quite low. Fortunate also that the thunderstorms have been at night or the early hours of the morning.

There must be more crocodiles about because we have seen more signs and warning signs.

As we were riding along we got a strong whiff of fish. I presumed someone was drying out a catch or something like that, then we came across a shark on the gravel road. No idea how it could have got there, but yes, a shark in the road. Don’t think that would happen in Sowerby Bridge.

The amount of beautiful places to pull in and view another gorgeous spot are endless.

Another quiet beach
About 0900 in the morning, still very hot!

As stated before, horses just seem to be free to roam wherever they please.

Today we are stopping in another yoga/surf accommodation. This one is made up from lots of converted shipping containers. “Container Life!”. Honestly, you don’t need anything more than this. You can see people make really nice homes by joining some side by side and some even on top of each other.

We got showered and walked into town via the beach. On the way we spotted another squirrel, they have really cool markings and what looks like super smooth fur.

The waves were quite big on this beach today and there were some very competent surfers showing their skills.

We found a restaurant to have our tea, again stupendous food. I did believe I made the wrong choice when I saw the size of Rachael’s plate, but my fish tacos were gorgeous. A nice walk back to our digs to burn off some calories. Another chilled and lovely day!
